Elbows: Needed Manual Articulation

For all intents and purposes, the elbow is the joint where the three longest bones of the arm meet in the middle of the arm; the humerus, ulna, and radius forming a hinge for the joint.

Tendons are attached to allow the elbow to function in a manner in which extends the elbow at the elbow hinge, however, these tendons can be injured or inflamed by tendinitis – or tennis elbow. Other tendons that are formed along the muscles and can be injured, which in turn causes golfer's elbow. Then there is a sac of fluid called the bursa which reduced friction off of the elbow called the olecranon bursa which can be affected by inflammation along the tendons and can be a result of arthritis, nerve irritation, or fractures.

Treatment of inflammation along the elbow is usually treated with plenty of ice, rest, and a series of medication. Likewise the nerve known as the funny bone can reach such a state of irritation at the elbow that numbness and a tingling of the pinkie and ring fingers can occur.
