How Do I Treat My Toe Pain?

Over the period of a patient’s life, they will experience a minor toe injury. What makes the minor toe problem a major injury is what is done after the injury is incurred. Most toe injuries occur when the patient is playing sports, at play, work-related jobs, at-home projects, or during accidental trips and falls.

Treatment for a toe injury includes first-aid, such as applying a cast, splint or brace around the injured toe and foot, or even a special orthopedic show. Often times, rehabilitating a toe after serious injury can include surgery and physical therapy. Treatment of an injured toe generally depends on which toe has been injured, the type of injury and the severity of the injury as well as when the injury occurred. Other factors that come into play may also be the patient’s overall health and the number of physical activities they participate during work, play, and other hobbies.

If you have just injured your toe, then use the RICE method (Rest, Ice, Compress, Elevate) to relieve the pain. However, if you are not diabetic then the patient’s tow could be taped together with a “buddy toe.”

Environment Affects Sleep

In a study conducted at the Sousze Sleep Center in Hamburg, Germany, it was found that the root cause of more than 40-percent of all sleep related disorders or problems had an environmental cause.

"This was a progressive, three year study in which we asked a hundred patients to keep accurate logs and record their sleep experiences, including what would disturb them," said Dr. Sousze.
